On Gromit’s birthday, Wallace decides to gift him with a pair of new techno-trousers to make their walks more enjoyable. However, when Wallace realizes he is in debt, he decides to rent out their spare bedroom to a penguin. The penguin, who goes by the name Feathers McGraw, befriends Wallace and cunningly drives Gromit away from the house. Little do they know, Feathers has plans of his own involving the special trousers.

Feathers McGraw takes a keen interest in the techno-trousers that can walk on walls and ceilings, and he manages to rewire them for remote control. He forces Wallace into the trousers and sends him on a test run through town, all part of his scheme to steal a diamond from the city museum. As Wallace unknowingly carries out Feathers’ plans, Gromit uncovers Feathers’ true identity as a wanted criminal disguised as a chicken.
