The Smurfs 2: Adventure in New York City

In Smurf Village, the Smurfs are getting ready for the Festival of the Blue Moon. Papa Smurf has a vision of Clumsy Smurf reaching for a dragon wand and the evil wizard Gargamel capturing the Smurfs. Shortly after, Clumsy wanders off to pick smurfroot and unintentionally leads Gargamel into the village. The Smurfs escape and Clumsy heads towards the Forbidden Falls, with Papa, Smurfette, Grouchy, Brainy, and Gutsy following him. The Blue Moon appears and transports the Smurfs to New York City, with Gargamel and his cat Azrael in hot pursuit.

Meeting the Winslows

The Smurfs find themselves in the apartment of Patrick and Grace Winslow, a couple expecting their first child. After explaining their predicament, the Winslows welcome them and provide shelter. The next day, the Smurfs follow Patrick to his workplace at Anjelou Cosmetics to find a “stargazer,” believing he can help them. Meanwhile, Gargamel uses Smurf essence to gain magic powers and searches for the Smurfs.

A Race Against Time

Papa Smurf needs to work out a spell to return the Smurfs home. They visit an antique store and discover a spellbook by researcher Peyo that can turn the moon blue. Gargamel tracks them down, seizes the dragon wand, and prepares to use it against the Smurfs. Papa entrusts the spell to Brainy and sacrifices himself to protect the others.

Clumsy convinces the Smurfs to rescue Papa, and they head to Belvedere Castle in Central Park. Gargamel increases the wand’s power with Papa’s essence, but Brainy successfully turns the moon blue, summoning all the Smurfs from Smurf Village to aid in the battle. In the end, Clumsy defeats Gargamel and the Smurfs bid farewell to Patrick and Grace before returning to their village.

A Happy Ending

During the credits, Patrick and Grace have a baby boy named Blue, and the Smurfs rebuild their village, inspired by the architecture of New York City.
