As the story unfolds, we learn that Cristina is a journalist from Los Angeles who returned to her hometown to investigate the mysterious La Boca ruins. However, she is also battling a heroin addiction, continuing to inject the drug while chained to her bed. Despite her insistence that she is not possessed, strange occurrences begin to challenge her skepticism.
