In ancient China, a warlord rises to power and becomes the Dragon Emperor, leading to the unification of the country’s kingdoms into an empire. He initiates a civil war to establish the Qin dynasty, along with burning existing books and scrolls. The Emperor orders the construction of the Great Wall of China and buries his enemies beneath it to preserve his legacy.

The Emperor’s Quest for Immortality

Fearing his own mortality and the end of his accomplishments, the Emperor seeks eternal life by summoning the sorceress Zi Yuan to find the Oracle Bones. Despite the Emperor’s desire for Zi Yuan, she falls in love with General Ming, his second-in-command. When their relationship is discovered, Ming is executed, and Zi Yuan curses the Emperor and his army, transforming them into the Terracotta Army.

The O’Connells and the Emperor’s Tomb

In 1946, thirteen years after previous events, Alex O’Connell and his companions discover the Emperor’s tomb. They bring the sarcophagus to Shanghai, where they find themselves entangled in a plot involving a rogue military faction’s attempt to resurrect the Emperor for power and control.
