Plot Summary

Madam Rosa, a former prostitute and Jewish Holocaust survivor living in the Italian port city of Bari, provides a home for the children of “working women.” When Momo, a 12-year-old Senegalese immigrant, robs her, Dr. Coen, his foster guardian and Rosa’s doctor, intervenes and offers Rosa money to care for the boy.
