Dr. David Banner, also known as David Bannion, has been working at the Joshua-Lambert Research Institute with a team of scientists. They are on the verge of completing a Gamma Transponder that Banner hopes will cure him of his Hulk transformation abilities. It has been two years since Banner last transformed, thanks to his romantic relationship with widow Maggie Shaw.

Unexpected Encounter with Thor

During his time at the research institute, Banner’s former student Donald Blake recognizes him. Blake reveals that he has come into possession of a magical hammer containing the soul of Thor, an immortal Viking warrior. By speaking Odin’s name, Blake can summon Thor, who inadvertently angers Banner enough to trigger his transformation into the Hulk. A confrontation between the two powerful beings ensues.
