Among these pilots are the squadron’s top aces, Courtney and Scott, who hold a deep resentment towards their commanding officer, Brand. They blame him for putting new recruits directly into battle using outdated aircraft.

Unknown to Courtney and Scott, Brand has been advocating for more training time for the new pilots. However, higher command is insistent on maintaining air superiority and rushes the recruits into combat upon arrival. As the situation worsens, Brand is called back to headquarters and Courtney is appointed as the new squadron commander. The rift between Scott and Courtney deepens when Scott’s younger brother is sent on a dangerous mission and tragically loses his life.
