The Dark Intentions of David Young

Meanwhile, in Tucson, Arizona, David Young, the former town marshal of Cokeville, is consumed by a dangerous obsession. He tests a homemade bomb on an old bus, obliterating it in a display of triumph that he shares with his second wife, Doris. Together with Young’s daughter from his first marriage, Penny, they travel back to Cokeville. Young’s sinister plan unfolds as he gathers supplies to construct another bomb and enlists the help of his friends, Gerald Deppe and Doyle Mendenhall.

In a deluded state, Young announces his intention to take the school hostage, believing he has calculated a way to die and return in a “brave new world” that he will control.
