Larry Dittmeyer, an unscrupulous real estate developer, convinces all the families in his neighborhood — except for the Brady family — to sell their property as part of a plan to turn the area into a shopping mall.
The Bradys have their own set of unique challenges to overcome. Jan is dealing with jealousy towards her elder, popular sister Marcia. Cindy has a habit of tattling on everything she hears. Greg dreams of becoming a singer but struggles with singing pop songs more fitting for the 1970s. Peter is navigating puberty and his changing voice, while also trying to win the heart of his crush, Holly. Bobby, on the other hand, is thrilled about his new role as a hall monitor at school.
Things take a turn for the worse when Cindy delivers a tax delinquency notice to Mike and Carol, mistakenly thinking it belonged to the Dittmeyers. The notice claims that they owe $20,000 in back taxes and could face foreclosure if not paid. Mike’s architectural design being rejected puts additional pressure on the family, leading them to consider selling their home.
The Brady children, upon learning about the situation, pool their efforts to save the house. Despite their hard work, it seems impossible to gather the required sum. Just when hope seems lost, Larry sabotages Mike’s potential deal by spreading false information about his past projects.
In a last-ditch effort to save their home, Marcia suggests entering a talent contest with a $20,000 prize. Jan initially rejects the idea and runs away, prompting a frantic search by the whole family. With the help of a trucker named Schultzy, Jan is convinced to return home.
