Teachers: A Story of Conflict and Redemption

On a typical Monday morning at John F. Kennedy High School in the inner city of Columbus, Ohio, conflict arises among the teachers. A student with a stab wound, rumors of an impending lawsuit, and tensions running high, Vice Principal Roger Rubell and Principal Eugene Horn meet with lawyer Lisa Hammond. Lisa is responsible for handling depositions related to a recent graduate’s lawsuit against the school for issuing him a diploma despite his illiteracy.

The Veteran Teacher

Alex Jurel, a seasoned social studies teacher, approaches his job with a sense of humor and a unique ability to connect with his students. Over the years, he has intervened between unruly students and the school’s authority, taking a toll on him. Assigned to temporarily fill in as the school psychologist, Alex takes young student Eddie Pilikian under his wing, offering guidance and support. As he navigates his professional responsibilities, Alex also finds himself drawn to Lisa, a former student turned lawyer.

The Unconventional Educators

Herbert Gower, a mental health outpatient, is mistaken for a substitute teacher and placed in charge of a history class. Despite his unconventional background, Herbert engages his students with humor and innovative teaching methods. Eddie’s best friend Danny, a troubled student with mental health issues, meets a tragic end when a police confrontation turns fatal.
