Plot Summary

80 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period, a young Tarbosaurus named Speckles, for his unique birthmark, lives with his older brother, Quicks, twin sisters, and mother. Speckles is left alone when a rogue Tyrannosaurus named One-Eye causes a massive stampede to kill Speckles’ siblings, and personally kills his mother, in order to usurp their territory. Four years later, Speckles has scraped by on his own, scavenging and raiding nests.

Survival and Struggles

One day, while attempting to steal food from One-Eye, Speckles encounters a female Tarbosaurus named “Blue-Eyes” and the pair team up to hunt and survive together. Over the years, Speckles and Blue-Eyes attempt to maintain a hunting territory away from One-Eye. Eventually, however, One-Eye discovers their hunting grounds and again attempts to usurp their territory. After a fierce battle, Speckles emerges victorious.

Family and Loss

After defeating One-Eye, Speckles and Blue-Eyes reclaim their territory and start a family. Tragedy strikes when they are forced to flee due to a volcanic eruption, resulting in the loss of one of their children and Blue-Eyes being wounded. Speckles takes on the role of protector for a large herd of migrating dinosaurs.

Final Showdown and Resolution

As the herd reaches a new area to settle, Speckles must once again face One-Eye, who seeks revenge. In a dramatic showdown, One-Eye kills one of Speckles’ children and pushes Speckles Jr. into the ocean. Speckles fights fiercely to save his son, ultimately defeating One-Eye with the help of Tylosaurus.

In the end, Speckles wishes for a peaceful life for his son, reflecting on the challenges they have overcome and the bond they share.
