A group of six anarchist drummers, led by musician Sanna Persson and conductor Magnus, embarks on a musical adventure using everyday objects known for being non-musical. They plan a concert with four whimsically named movements to be performed throughout the city, strategically selecting objects capable of creating harmonious sounds.
As the group creates music in unexpected places, they attract the attention of Amadeus Warnebring, a tone-deaf policeman from a musically inclined family who despises all forms of music. Their performances include playing in a surgery room during a hemorrhoid operation and utilizing a bank as a musical instrument by feeding banknotes through a shredding machine for a unique bass sound. The drummers’ innovative approach also involves using bulldozers and power cables to create melodic chaos.
Warnebring, initially repulsed by the unconventional musical performances, begins to realize that the sounds produced by the anarchists become inaudible to him due to his tone-deafness. This realization leads him to devise a plan to manipulate the city’s power grid to control the drummers’ orchestration of sounds throughout the urban landscape.
Warnebring’s plan comes to fruition as the city transforms into a harmonious blend of ambient melodies, with Persson experiencing a musical evolution in her surroundings. Conversely, Warnebring remains oblivious to the newfound symphony enveloping the city, highlighting the stark contrast in their perceptions of music.
The film culminates in the anarchists being banished from the city, relegated to performing in a lounge setting, while Warnebring witnesses a silent orchestral concert in a different location, emblematic of his inability to appreciate the beauty of sound.
