Eight months have passed since Sonic banished Dr. Robotnik to the mushroom planet. Sonic now lives with the Wachowskis, attempting to be a vigilante hero but facing little success due to his recklessness. Tom advises Sonic to be patient, as his powers will be needed one day. Tom and Maddie leave for Hawaii, leaving Sonic in charge of the house.

The Return of Dr. Robotnik and Knuckles

While home alone, Sonic is attacked by Robotnik, who has escaped with the help of Knuckles, an echidna warrior seeking revenge. Knuckles demands the location of the Master Emerald, a powerful ancient relic. Sonic is saved by Miles “Tails” Prower, who warns him about Knuckles.

The Quest for the Master Emerald

Sonic convinces Tails to help him find the Master Emerald. Robotnik reunites with his assistant, Agent Stone, and offers to help Knuckles to steal the emerald. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Robotnik chase each other following clues given by Longclaw, Sonic’s former guardian.

After a series of events, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles team up to fight Robotnik’s giant robot with the help of the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic transforms into Super Sonic, defeats the robot, and reverts back to normal. Knuckles decides to protect the Master Emerald with Sonic and Tails.

An Uncertain Future

In a mid-credits scene, G.U.N. searches for Robotnik, who is missing. Agent Stone survives and overhears information about “Project Shadow.” As Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles embrace their new bond, they look towards a peaceful future protecting the Master Emerald together.
