This encounter introduces the legend of the Phantosaur, a creature said to have been summoned by Native Americans to reclaim their land from European colonists.

With the help of the bikers, they uncover that the Phantosaur is actually an animatronic creature controlled by someone trying to scare off Svankmajer’s team to exploit a silver mine.

When Mr. Hubley arrives, claiming that his hypnotherapy equipment has been stolen, Mystery Inc. decides to investigate further. However, they soon encounter another Phantosaur, which mysteriously disappears, leaving them puzzled.

The following day, the group heads to the mine to present their findings to Professor Svankmajer. She reveals that her camp was attacked and that she intends to send Windsor home. However, the gang uncovers a shocking truth: Svankmajer had hired graduate students to impersonate the Velociraptors, and the second Phantosaur was merely a projection created using Hubley’s stolen equipment.

Furthermore, Svankmajer’s team had discovered a dinosaur skeleton preserved in quartz crystal and sought to scare off the citizens of La Serena to claim it for themselves. In a dramatic turn of events, the paint strippers used to create the animatronic Phantosaur’s fire breath accidentally trigger explosives meant to seal off the mine.

Overcoming Fear and Saving the Day

In a moment of bravery, Shaggy overcomes his fears and rushes outside to enlist the help of Tex’s gang to rescue his friends. The climax of the story sees Svankmajer and her team arrested for their deceitful actions, while Shaggy’s hypnotherapy is undone.
