In the delightful animated film, “Rugrats in Paris,” we find ourselves at the wedding reception of Lou Pickles and his new wife, Lulu. The joyous occasion takes a poignant turn as Chuckie Finster is reminded of his late mother during a mother-child dance. This moment of reflection leads Chas Finster, Chuckie’s father, to contemplate the idea of remarrying, as both he and Chuckie feel the absence of a maternal figure in their lives.
Meanwhile, Tommy Pickles’ father, Stu, receives an urgent call to EuroReptarland, a Japanese amusement park located in the enchanting city of Paris. He is tasked with fixing a malfunctioning Reptar robot designed for the park’s stage show. This summons leads the entire Pickles, Finster, and DeVille families to embark on an exciting journey to Paris, where they will experience the wonders of EuroReptarland.
Upon their arrival, they encounter Coco LaBouche, the park’s cold-hearted and child-hating manager, who is determined to succeed Mr. Yamaguchi as the president of the Reptar corporation. When Mr. Yamaguchi mentions that his successor must love children, Coco deceitfully claims to be engaged to a man with a child. Angelica Pickles, always the schemer, overhears this conversation and cleverly saves herself by mentioning Chas Finster.
Coco, eager to win over Chas, enlists the help of her kindhearted assistant, Kira Watanabe. Kira shares with the babies the story of how Reptar was once a feared monster until a princess revealed his gentler side. Inspired by this tale, Chuckie decides he wants the park’s animatronic princess to be his mother. He sets off on a quest to find her, accompanied by the other babies and Kira’s daughter, Kimi.
As the adventure unfolds, the Pickles’ dog, Spike, gets lost in the streets of Paris while chasing a stray poodle named Fifi. While Coco works her charm on Chas, Chuckie remains skeptical of her intentions. During the premiere of the Reptar show, Angelica informs Coco of Chuckie’s wish for the princess to be his mother, prompting Coco to disguise herself as the princess and lure Chuckie onto the stage.
Chuckie’s horror at discovering Coco’s true identity is overshadowed by Chas’s eagerness to marry her, believing that Chuckie’s affection for Coco is genuine. On the day of the wedding, Coco instructs her accomplice, Jean-Claude, to keep the babies and Angelica from intervening. However, Kira learns of Coco’s deceitful plan and attempts to warn Chas, only to be thrown out on her way to the ceremony.
