Sophie Bishop and her boyfriend, Dan, travel to Phoenix, Arizona, to visit Sophie’s parents on the 20th anniversary of her brother Josh’s vanishing. During Sophie’s 6th birthday party in 1997, the family witnesses the Phoenix Lights phenomenon, with Josh recording the event. Strange lights in a “V” formation appear over the city before disappearing, followed by fighter jets. Although Josh is convinced they saw UFOs, others are skeptical. Sophie delves into Josh’s saved videotapes in search of answers about her brother’s fate.

The Investigation Unfolds

Within the tapes, Josh, along with his friends Ashley and Mark, begins investigating the Phoenix Lights. They interview astronomers who suggest the lights were flares released by jets from a nearby air force base. However, Ashley and Josh remain doubtful. A few days later, more mysterious lights appear over Mesa. Determined to capture the lights on film in better quality, the trio heads to Mesa. Upon arrival, they notice a spotlight in the distance and investigate, leading them to a group of Sheriff’s Deputies and unidentifiable men. The men spot the trio, prompting them to flee. Josh is pursued and taken by the craft as well, leading to a chilling ending that connects the alien encounter with the Phoenix Lights. The tape closes with the government denying any link between the lights and the trio’s fate.
