Anders is a recovering drug addict in an Oslo rehab clinic. On his first overnight trip from the rehab center, he meets an old girlfriend and attempts suicide but fails. Unable to go through with it, he returns to the rehab center without mentioning his attempt in group therapy.
On 30 August, Anders is given a day’s leave to attend a job interview in the city center. He meets his friend Thomas and reveals his suicidal thoughts. Feeling too old to start over, he struggles with the interview and admits his past drug addiction, ending the interview abruptly.

After a disappointing visit with his sister, Anders calls his former girlfriend Iselin and attends a party where he relapses into drinking. Seeking comfort, he reaches out to Iselin, steals money at the party, and eventually buys heroin from his old drug dealer.
