Maktub: A Heartwarming Tale of Redemption

Steve and Chuma, two mobsters involved in collecting sponsorship fees, experience a life-altering event when they miraculously survive a terrorist bombing at a restaurant. Following this ordeal, Chuma becomes convinced that they have been spared by a higher power.

A Divine Intervention

In an act of faith, the duo visits the Western Wall to offer their prayers. During this visit, Steve finds a note left in the Wall and uses it to communicate with Chuma, who is temporarily deaf from the explosion. The note contains a heartfelt message from a lonely boy, raised by a single mother struggling to afford a bar mitzvah for her son.

An Unexpected Mission

Feeling chosen by fate, Steve and Chuma decide to fulfill the wishes left in the Wall. They meet with Boris, the boy from the note, and deceive him into believing his mother has won a lottery for hosting a bar mitzvah. Meanwhile, Chuma encounters Avishar, a young man claiming to be Steve’s son.

The pair also come across a note from Bruria, a woman longing for a child with her husband. Despite their unsuccessful attempts, Steve and Chuma concoct a plan involving a fake car accident and a chance encounter with a fertility doctor to help Bruria discover her husband’s infertility.

An Unexpected Revelation

As their journey continues, Chuma seeks a folk remedy for male infertility to assist Bruria. In the process, Avishar begins to see Chuma as a father figure, leading to a surprising realization about his true parentage. The discovery of a note left by Avishar at the Wall further complicates their relationships.

However, their newfound sense of purpose is challenged when they are apprehended by their former mob boss, suspicious of their intentions. Yet, a twist of fate reveals the hitman sent to thwart them is actually Bruria’s husband, previously believed to be infertile but now expectant with their child.

A Touching Resolution

In a heartwarming conclusion, Chuma fulfills Avishar’s wish by escorting him to his soccer match, while Steve embraces his newfound role as a father. The bonds of family and redemption prevail, showcasing the power of answered prayers and the importance of second chances.
