Plot Summary

In 1968, journalist Paula Nelson travels to Atlantic-Cité to meet her ex-boyfriend Richard P[olitzer], a writer of communist magazine editorials. Upon arrival, she discovers Richard has died from a supposed heart attack. Edgar Typhus, a former associate of Richard, offers to help Paula investigate, but she knocks him out and meets David Goodis, Richard’s nephew, and his girlfriend, Doris Mizoguchi. As Paula delves into Richard’s death, she is followed by local inspector Paul Widmark and Donald Siegel, raising suspicions about the circumstances of Richard’s demise.
