In North Carolina, Dan O’Grady returns from Ireland, where he tricked the Leprechaun and stole his gold coins. However, the Leprechaun has followed him and kills his wife Mrs. O’Grady. Dan succeeds in locking him in a box in his basement with a four-leaf clover on top, intending to torch the house. Before he can, Dan suffers a heart attack. Ten years later, J.D. buys the derelict house and moves in with his daughter Tory, unknowingly unleashing the dangerous Leprechaun.
