Claude Gaspard, a very polite prisoner, finds himself in a cell with four other inmates due to renovations in his block. Each of his cellmates faces lengthy prison sentences, from 10 years to possible execution by guillotine. Gaspard, accused of attempting to murder his wife, also faces a potential 20-year sentence.
