Their mother tells them he lives in Germany, so Voula and Alexandros decide to embark on a secret journey to find him. They make their way to the Athens Railway Station, hoping to catch the Germany Express. However, they are promptly removed from the train for not having a ticket.

A police officer intervenes and takes them to a distant uncle. The uncle explains to the officer that the children do not have a father in Germany. He reveals that their mother lied to them, hiding the truth that they have different fathers and were the result of one-night stands. Their search leads them to a truck driver (Vassilis Kolovos) who agrees to give them a ride. However, while Alexandros is asleep, the driver sexually assaults Voula before fleeing in shock. The traumatized children soon arrive at another train station and attempt to board a train once again. They narrowly escape capture by the ticket inspector, thanks to a timely getaway.

A Reunion with Orestis

Fate brings Orestis back into their lives as they stumble upon him once more. He takes them on his motorcycle, but the troupe disbands, and Orestis begins to sell their props. Voula and Alexandros walk with him along the promenade of an empty beach cafe and witness the surreal sight of a giant marble hand rising from the sea, missing its index finger.

An Uncertain Future

Orestis is compelled to sell his motorcycle due to his upcoming military service. He later encounters the buyer at a bar, and it is implied that they engage in sexual relations. Disappointed in Orestis, Voula, who has developed feelings for him, decides to part ways with him once again. They reunite briefly on a deserted highway, where Orestis comforts Voula, telling her that the first time is always difficult.

The Journey Continues

At another train station, a soldier gives Voula money to buy train tickets. With their destination still in mind, the children board a train bound for Germany. They disembark just before reaching passport control at the border. They discover that the border is marked by a river and use a small boat to cross it. Shots suddenly ring out from the border guards, and a tree emerges from the fog. In a desperate bid for safety, Voula and Alexandros run towards the tree and hold onto it tightly.
