On a remote tropical island, a team of dedicated ecologists embarks on a mission to investigate the alarming pollution in a nearby wetland. Their journey leads them to discover the shocking source of the contamination: barrels of radioactive toxic waste carelessly dumped into the waters. Recognizing the danger posed by the waste, the team decides to set up camp in the nearby woods for the night, unaware of the lurking danger that awaits them.
As night falls, the group’s loyal dog, Candy, goes missing. Concerned for their furry companion, the local guide, Conchita, bravely ventures into the dark to search for him. Tragically, she stumbles upon Candy’s collar, only to meet a gruesome fate at the jaws of a gigantic crocodile. The next morning, the ecologists awaken to find both Conchita and Candy missing, prompting them to seek help from the nearby village.
Upon docking their boat at the village, the ecologists approach the local law enforcement official, Judge, in hopes of finding Conchita. However, Judge dismisses their concerns, claiming there is nothing he can do. Tensions rise as Pamela accuses Judge of being complicit with the company responsible for the toxic waste dumping. After their heated exchange, Judge reluctantly seeks assistance from the shady Jim Foley, who is involved in the illegal dumping operations, but Foley brushes him off.
Determined to uncover the truth, the ecologists return to the swamp, but their boat becomes stuck in the mud. As team members Kevin, Mark, Bob, and Pamela attempt to free the vessel, Pamela makes a horrifying discovery: Conchita’s mutilated corpse submerged in the water. They bring her remains to a local doctor, who suggests an animal or boat propeller could be responsible for her death. However, Judge and Foley downplay these theories, leading to further suspicion.
Resident hunter Joe arrives on the scene and, after examining Conchita’s remains, concludes that she was killed by a crocodile. The tension escalates when the crocodile attacks a dock, resulting in the deaths of two men and a near-fatal encounter with a young girl, whom the ecologists heroically save. Judge and Joe decide to hunt down the crocodile, but the ecologists argue against this, believing the creature to be a significant discovery, possibly an endangered species mutated by the radioactive waste.
