Plot Summary of Hellraiser: Bloodline

In the year 2127, Dr. Paul Merchant, an engineer, finds himself trapped in a room aboard The Minos, a space station he designed. As he is being pursued by armed guards, Dr. Merchant uses a robot to solve the Lament Configuration, a puzzle that opens a portal to Hell. The guards eventually apprehend Dr. Merchant, and he agrees to explain his actions to their leader, Rimmer.

Origin of the Lament Configuration

The film then takes us back to Paris, France in 1796, where Dr. Merchant’s ancestor, Phillip LeMarchand, a toymaker, creates the Lament Configuration for the libertine aristocrat Duc de L’Isle. Unbeknownst to LeMarchand, the box becomes a gateway to Hell when used as per L’Isle’s specifications. LeMarchand witnesses a horrific ritual involving the box and decides to create a second box to counteract its effects. However, his efforts lead to a curse on his bloodline for inadvertently opening a portal to Hell.
