Yamane, a descendant of Dr. Kyohei Yamane, who first encountered Godzilla, suspects that Godzilla’s heart, functioning as a nuclear reactor, is on the verge of a meltdown due to the energy absorbed from a uranium deposit triggered by volcanic activity on Baas Island.

The Countdown to Catastrophe

Yamane theorizes that if Godzilla’s temperature reaches 1,200 °C (2,190 °F), it could lead to an explosion powerful enough to melt the Earth down to its core. In a desperate attempt to prevent this disaster, the JSDF deploys the Super X III, an advanced aerial combat vehicle equipped with ultra-low temperature lasers. Although they manage to temporarily incapacitate Godzilla, the threat of a meltdown looms larger than ever.

Destoroyah: The Result of Past Battles

As the JSDF grapples with Godzilla’s condition, a new menace arises. During the construction of the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, a colony of Precambrian organisms, mutated by the Oxygen Destroyer used against the original Godzilla, awakens. These creatures, known as “Destoroyah,” engage the JSDF in fierce battles. Vulnerable to subzero temperatures, the JSDF uses low-temperature lasers to hold them at bay, but the creatures merge into a larger form, the ‘Aggregate,’ which proves to be a formidable opponent.

The Clash of Titans

As Godzilla’s condition deteriorates, Miki locates Little Godzilla, now referred to as Godzilla Junior due to its growth. She telepathically draws Junior to Tokyo, hoping that Godzilla will follow and confront Destoroyah. The battle intensifies as Junior faces off against Destoroyah’s Aggregate form, which absorbs its DNA before seemingly being defeated. Godzilla arrives at Haneda Airport, reuniting with Junior, but Destoroyah, now enhanced by Junior’s DNA, reemerges in its final, ‘perfect’ form.
