Out in space on a desolate planet, the shape-shifting bounty hunters Ug and Lee, along with their human companion Charlie McFadden, embark on a mission to hunt down a vicious, worm-like creature menacing the planet. After successfully eliminating the beast, they receive a new assignment from Zanti, head of the High Council.

Search for Krites on Earth

Zanti informs them that Krites, dangerous alien creatures, have been detected on Earth and must be destroyed immediately. Reluctantly, they set a course for Earth. As they prepare for the mission, Ug notices Charlie’s unease about returning to Earth after two years. Charlie expresses his fears of being left behind, but Ug reassures him of their loyalty.

Terror Strikes Grover’s Bend

Back on Earth, Brad Brown, now a teenager, visits his grandmother in Grover’s Bend, Kansas. News of his return spreads quickly, hinting at his previous heroic deeds. The Critters make their presence known by attacking a man disguised as an Easter Bunny, sparking chaos in the town. Ug adopts the persona of rock star Johnny Steele, while Lee takes on the appearance of a glamorous model to blend in.

As the Critters escalate their attacks, Lee falls victim to a trap set by the creatures, plunging Ug into despair. The townspeople band together to devise a plan to combat the growing threat, leading to a dramatic showdown at a burger factory. Despite their efforts, the Critters regroup and head towards the town’s church.

Final Showdown and Sacrifice

In a daring move, Charlie pilots Ug’s spaceship directly into the mass of Critters, sacrificing himself to save the town. Ug, deeply moved by Charlie’s bravery, adopts his features to honor his sacrifice. The following day, as Brad bids farewell, it is revealed that Charlie survived by using a parachute and chooses to remain on Earth as the sheriff of Grover’s Bend.

Ug, now wearing Charlie’s appearance, bids farewell in a new spacecraft, leaving Earth behind. As the adventure concludes, viewers are invited to watch “Critters 2: The Main Course” for an exciting space adventure filled with action and heroism.
