Katie, a former professional ice skater (Merritt Patterson), is hired by the king of San Senova, Alexander (Andrew Cooper), to help his daughter in a Christmas ice skating performance. As Katie spends time in the castle and with the king, she and Alex begin to develop feelings for each other.

King Alexander of San Senova rules his tiny European state wisely and carefully, but is still nicknamed the Grinch king because since the queen’s death he distanced himself from the seasonal traditions – connected to the realm’s origin myth – which his late father was called Christmas king for. Although the lead skaters Katie and Jessica intended to retire, the generous compensation is too good to refuse: enough to start their own skating school.
