Bugsy Malone Plot Summary

The Prohibition Era Begins

During the prohibition era, a mobster named Roxy Robinson is “splurged” by members of a rival gang, using rapid-fire cream-shooting “splurge guns”. Mob boss Fat Sam Staccetto introduces himself and Bugsy Malone, a penniless boxing promoter who is a “little too popular with the broads but a nice guy.”

Fat Sam’s Grand Slam Speakeasy

At Fat Sam’s Grand Slam Speakeasy, there is much dancing and singing. Fat Sam rants about the loss of Roxy, blaming rival mob boss Dandy Dan. Aspiring singer Blousey Brown auditions but the speakeasy is raided by Dan’s men.

Bugsy and Blousey’s Romance

Bugsy meets Blousey and tries to flirt with her. Despite the chaos caused by Dan’s men, Bugsy arranges a new audition for Blousey. They reconcile and have a romantic outing, promising to go to Hollywood together.
