The Plot of Atone

In the movie “Atone”, a group of migrants from Northeast India living in Delhi – Upasana, Chanbi, and Zorem – come together to help their friend Minam with her wedding preparations. Minam, who shares a flat with Upasana and Chanbi, is suddenly called away for an interview, leaving her friends to plan the wedding on their own.

Challenges and Obstacles

As they set out to make a special dish called ‘Axone’ for the wedding, the friends face various challenges. The tenants in their building object to their cooking plans, and the landlord’s strict mother-in-law enforces rules against parties and spicy food. Determined to make the wedding a success, they decide to cook Axone at Chanbi’s boyfriend Bendang’s flat, leading to comedic situations as they try to avoid drawing unwanted attention.

A Helping Hand

Shiv, the landlord’s son and a friend of Zorem, comes to their aid. However, his involvement leads to complications in his relationship when his girlfriend notices him with Upasana and Chanbi. Despite these challenges, the friends work together to ensure that the Axone is ready in time for the wedding.

A Heartwarming Ending

As the wedding ceremony begins, Minam initiates a video call with her groom and family from her hometown, with her sister standing in for her. The friends realize the depth of their bond as Zorem proposes to Upasana, and Chanbi makes important decisions about her future.
