Two Americans, Abbott and Costello, find themselves stranded in Cairo, Egypt. While in Cairo, they overhear Dr. Gustav Zoomer discussing the mummy Klaris, the guardian of the Tomb of Princess Ara. Klaris possesses a sacred medallion that reveals the location of Princess Ara’s treasure. The followers of Klaris, led by Semu, and Madame Rontru, a businesswoman looking to steal the treasure, also catch wind of this information.

Abbott and Costello’s Misadventure

Abbott and Costello decide to apply for the job of accompanying the mummy back to America at Dr. Zoomer’s house. Unfortunately, before they arrive, two of Semu’s men, Iben and Hetsut, kill the doctor and make off with the mummy. However, Abbott and Costello stumble upon the medallion left behind and try to sell it. Initially offered $100 by Rontru, Abbott negotiates up to $5,000, suspecting the medallion’s true worth.

The Cursed Medallion

Upon learning that the medallion is cursed, Abbott and Costello are desperate to get rid of it. After a series of comical mishaps, including Costello accidentally eating the medallion in his hamburger, they are taken to a doctor to examine the artifact. Unable to decipher the hieroglyphic instructions on the medallion, Rontru, Semu, and the duo head to the tomb with Semu posing as an archaeologist.
