During a Little League Baseball game in the small town of Millbrook, New York, the Abbott family – wife Evelyn, husband Lee, deaf daughter Regan, and sons Marcus and Beau – and other spectators witness a strange meteor-like object hurtling towards the Earth. Shortly after, the hostile extraterrestrial creatures dubbed Death Angels emerge from the meteor and begin slaughtering the townspeople. The blind creatures possess armored skin and extraordinary speed and strength, tracking victims with hypersensitive hearing and attacking anything that makes even the slightest noise.

Discovering Vulnerabilities

Over a year later, the Angels have decimated much of the Earth’s population, including Lee and Beau. Regan has discovered that high-frequency audio feedback makes them vulnerable and devises a makeshift method of transmitting the noise from her cochlear implant through a portable microphone. With their home destroyed, the family searches for other survivors. Entering a fenced-off area, Evelyn accidentally sets off a sound alarm, alerting the Angels. As they flee, Marcus steps into a bear trap, attracting an Angel with his screams. Regan and Evelyn manage to kill the Angel, free Marcus, and seek refuge in an abandoned steel foundry.

Quest for Survival

An old friend, Emmett, guides them to his soundproof underground hideout. Emmett, who has lost his family and grown cynical, initially refrains from aiding them further. Marcus hears a radio playing “Beyond the Sea” continuously for months, hinting at survivors on the Norwalk Islands to the southeast. Regan sets out alone to reach the island, facing dangers and attacks along the way. Emmett eventually decides to help complete her mission. Meanwhile, Evelyn leaves her newborn baby with Marcus and encounters a grim discovery in town.

Emmett and Regan face challenges at a marina, contending with bandits and Angels. They discover the creatures cannot swim, providing them with an advantage. Arriving at the island, they find a small colony of survivors living a semblance of normalcy. The colony leader reveals the government’s failed attempt to move people to the islands due to chaos attracting the Angels.

Final Showdown

Evelyn saves her children from a dangerous situation at the foundry, while Regan successfully transmits the high-frequency signal over the radio station, incapacitating and defeating an Angel. Marcus picks up the transmission and eliminates another Angel at the foundry. Regan leaves the hearing aid connected to the microphone, enabling others to weaponize the broadcast signal for defense.
