In the vibrant suburb of Reseda, Los Angeles, a 14-year-old boy named Calvin Fuller finds himself at a baseball game, representing his team, the Knights. As he stands at bat, ready for yet another strikeout, an unexpected earthquake strikes. While his friends flee for safety, Calvin falls through a chasm that opens beneath him, landing on the head of a 6th-century black knight. This miraculous appearance catches the attention of the elderly King Arthur, who believes Calvin is the savior foretold by Merlin. He dubs him “Calvin of Reseda” and invites him to dine at the royal court.

As Calvin begins his knight training under Sir Kane, Arthur’s most trusted knight, he learns the ropes of chivalry and combat to help Arthur retain his crown. They return to Camelot just in time to thwart Belasco’s plans to force Sarah into marriage.

His teammates, including Katey, cheer him on, while Arthur watches from afar, whittling a piece of wood with the pocketknife Calvin had gifted him. The baseball sails into a chasm, where Merlin catches it, humorously breaking the fourth wall by stating, “Taught that kid everything he knows.”
